Pilote
Artist Collective

How does our perception situate itself in a supposedly natural and artificially constructed environment? Pilote, an association of ten Berlin artists, address this question in their group exhibition "Y". It shows multimedia positions that are linked by a critical commitment. In addition to conceptual considerations, Pilote always focusses on the sensual quality of the works.

The works are presented to the public in the form of an exhibition programme, to which guest artists and curators are also invited to collaborate with Pilote artists in the development of themed exhibition projects. Pilote's concept is to temporarily utilise a wide variety of locations, to intervene site-specifically, to break up conventional exhibition models in order to create new dynamics.

The location of the B-Part Exhibition in Park am Gleisdreieck invites an intensive examination of the relationship between people, nature and urban space. Using multimedia, the artists scrutinise in different facets how ambivalent our relationship to the near and distant, to the natural and artificial environment has become. Using various media such as photography, drawing, installation and objects, they conceptually, playfully and critically explore the different levels of meaning of the visibility and invisibility of the surroundings around the Parks am Gleisdreieck. How does our built environment localise individuals and thus contribute to the construction of identity?

Pilote's group exhibition "Y" will be staged at the B-Part Exhibition at Gleisdreieckpark. The ten artists in the collective - Attilio Tono, Betty Böhm, Carla Mercedes Hihn, Catherine Rose Evans, Claire Laude, Dana Engfer, Kathrin Ganser, Sarah Straßmann, Selket Chlupka and Stefan Klein - enter into an artistic dialogue with the exhibition space and its specific surroundings.

The B-Part Exhibition space accompanies the future development of the Urbane Mitte Am Gleisdreieck with artistic autonomy and thus at the same time enters into a dialogue with the overarching themes of the overall project - forms of New Work, Co-working, Culture and Sport - and creates synergies between artistic, cultural and social approaches. The artistic director of the B-Part Exhibition is Rüdiger Lange (loop - raum für aktuelle kunst).
